This 4 hour course is an introduction to the basics of handling and shooting a semi-auto pistol. No previous experience is required.
Learning to properly handle a shoot a handgun can be intimidating, and there is a lot of potential to learn bad habits that may be difficult to overcome later. This course is designed to reduce the intimidation and be sure your introduction is built on a solid understanding of the fundamentals of safely handling and shooting a semi-automatic pistol.
Participants will start in the classroom with a review of firearms safety rules, and a briefing of what to expect during the live fire activities. Basic gun handling and manipulations will be practiced using inert dummy rounds before moving on to live fire practice. Topics covered will include:
Universal Firearms Safety Rules
Gun handling / Manipulations
Loading and Unloading
Introduction to Common Malfunctions and How to Fix Them
Discussion of Range Rules and Etiquette
Shooting Fundamentals and Their Relationship to Accuracy
Grip
Stance
Sight Picture / Follow Through
Trigger Control
Debrief and discussion on Further Training
New shooters will leave the course with increased confidence in their ability, as well a clear understanding of where their strengths and weaknesses lie and what to focus on next.

Semi-Auto Pistol
2 magazines for your pistol
100 rounds of ammunition for your pistol
Ear and Eye protection
A brimmed “baseball style” hat
